Interlibrary Loan
WHAT IS INTERLIBRARY LOAN SERVICE?
Interlibrary Loan is one of several
alternative methods to obtain research material which
is not available on campus or in the Electronic Journal Center.
Many articles are immediately and easily available for viewing
or printing as eJournals, eBooks & Media.
Reference librarians can assist you with finding and printing
articles.
For Reference Assistance call: Dunbar 775-2925; Fordham 775-2005
WHO CAN USE IT?
Wright State University faculty and staff, emeritus faculty
and currently registered Wright State University students.
HOW DO I USE IT?
When you cannot locate an item you need in the Library Catalog
- WSU & Affiliates or in the OhioLINK system, you may
enter an online interlibrary loan request using ILLiad
(Interlibrary Loan internet accessible database).
Library staff can assist you, if needed.
Interlibrary Loan staff will locate and request the
item for you. This is a free service for WSU students,
faculty and staff.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Materials ordered through Interlibrary Loan arrive on average
within 9 days, but may take longer depending on the speed
of the lending library. Requests sent overseas can sometimes
take several months.
COMPLETING THE INTERLIBRARY LOAN REQUEST FORM
Providing complete and accurate information on the request
form helps reduce processing time.
Abbreviations and incomplete or incorrect information on the
request form delays the processing of a request. Including
the citation number from an online search is especially helpful.
For help in verifying a citation or translating abbreviations,
ask a reference librarian for assistance.
WHERE IS THE INTERLIBRARY LOAN OFFICE?
In Dunbar Library: Room 127, 775-2289.
In Fordham Library: Room 132C, 775-4110
WHAT WILL OTHER LIBRARIES LOAN?
Other libraries will generally loan material that they circulate
to their own patrons. Often excluded are: Textbooks, reference
books, course reserve books, rare books, microfilm, dissertations,
technical reports or audiovisual material. Individual issues
or bound volumes of periodicals are rarely loaned.
WARNING CONCERNING COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS
Under certain conditions specified in the copyright law of
the United States, libraries are authorized to furnish a photocopy
or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is
that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be 'used for
any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.'
If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy
or reproduction for purposes in excess of 'fair use', that
user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution
reserves the right to refuse a copying order if, in its judgement,
fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright
law.
Note that copyright law prohibits the photocopying of a
complete book or issue of a periodical. You may view the complete
text of the Copyright
Law in Title 17 of the U.S. Code.
