What do books, coffee, chocolate, wine, and good conversation have in common? If your first thought was, “Clearly, it’s that they’re all awesome,” then pay attention because Unwin(e)d might just be right for you!
About the group
Unwin(e)d is a bi-monthly book discussion during the academic year. The group, which started in 2013, is funded by the Friends of the Libraries. The group meets at Winan’s Fine Chocolates and Coffees in Beavercreek on Thursday evenings. Starting in the 2014-2015 school year, Unwin(e)d will also host a brown bag lunch at Dunbar Library on Tuesdays. We regularly have a lively discussion with a mix of WSU faculty, staff, students, alumni, retirees, and community members in attendance.
About the books
The books we read are relatively new…generally published within the past year or so of discussion. They’re generally literary fiction and they’ll generally be under-the-radar. We’re trying to bring you books that aren’t the titles everyone’s already talking about but that we think are interesting and will generate a lot of good discussion. Most of the titles we read are the author’s debut novel. Check the blog for current and previous years’ title selections.
About the blog
The Unwin(e)d blog is update to add information about the book we’re reading, author interviews, and other things that readers might find interesting. It’s also a chance to join the conversation without being at the discussion, so feel free to comment.
