Beginning in 2007, Wright State University’s Regional Summit sought ways to connect, invigorate, and engage leaders across disciplines and industries from across the Dayton, West Central Regions to help define and shape how Wright State University could work and serve our community.

In 2009, the first virtual Regional Summit was held. Since then, annual Regional Summits alternate between virtual and on-site events to explore the many diverse ways which connect Wright State with the community and its leaders. Each year, the Regional Summit is centered on a specific theme, and the focus of the 2011 Virtual Regional Summit is “Wright State Means Jobs” and demonstrates the vital impact that Wright State has transforming the communities we serve.

Special Collections and Archives was selected as one of the highlighted departments for the 2011 Virtual Regional Summit. For the virtual summit, Dawne Dewey, Head of Special Collections and Archives, discusses how this department connects to the larger community by helping preserve the history of the Miami Valley, the history of aviation, and the history of the University. Highlighting our collection areas and our outreach to the community, the video demonstrates the important role Special Collections and Archives plays in preserving the history of the Dayton and Miami Valley regions.

You can watch the video on the Regional Summit website.
