P.S. from Rolla

Among the letters of Robert Patterson is a P.S. that is not attached to any letter.  It was written on November 25, 1861 at Rolla Missouri.  In the P.S., Robert observes that he “cant for life of me see what good we have done coming out here.  It seems to me like the child’s story of the king who marched forty thousand men up the hill and then marched them down again.”  (Transcript of Robert P.S., November 25, 1861)
