Aunt Rachel Writes William

On April 5, 1863, Rachel Reynolds, William Patterson’s aunt, wrote William about the death of his father, Jefferson Patterson and his sister, Kate.  In the letter, Rachel expresses her sympathy and that she was pleased to hear that William was given 20 days leave to visit his mother.  The letter includes a little bit of news, and expresses the hope that William will stop to visit her when he returns to his regiment.  (Transcript of Rachel Reynolds Letter, April 5, 1863).
