General Information & Services

1. What are the library hours?
Today’s hours are posted on our home page; you may also view our calendar for all our hours, including holiday and break hours.

2. How do I get a library card?
If you are a student, faculty, or staff member, your library card is your Wright1 card.

If you are a Wright State affiliate in a local hospital or another OhioLINK library, you may use your ID card to check out books.

If you are a member of the official Wright State Alumni Association, you can borrow items from the library.

For all others, you are welcome to join the Friends of Library, where a $50/year membership level grants you borrowing privileges.

3. How do I get to the library?
Please see our Visiting page, which has directions to both Dunbar Library and the Lake Campus Learning Center, as well as hours, parking, and floor maps.

4. My professor put some materials for class on reserve online.  I don't have the password to find them. Do you know what it is and where to go?
Check with our Course Reserves staff at the Circulation Desk on the first floor of the library or call 937.775.2525.

5. My professor put a book on reserve for my class - where can I get it?
At the Circulation Desk on the 1st floor of the library; you can check it out with your Wright 1 card.

6. Where do I get a WSU computing account?
All Wright State students, faculty, and staff automatically have a computing account.  If you’re not sure what yours is, visit the Computing and Telecommunication Services (CaTS) website or contact the CaTS Help Desk at 937.775.4827.

Persons who are not Wright State students, faculty, or staff may use the computers on the 2nd floor of Dunbar Library by getting a guest computing account.  You must present a government-issued photo ID at the CaTS desk on the 2nd floor.  The account can only be used on the computers in the library.

7. How do I get a print/copy card?
Wright State students, faculty, and staff use their Wright1 cards to make copies and print at the Libraries.  The Wright1 card center is located in E146 Student Union and their number is 937.775.5542.

Persons who are not affiliated with Wright State (and those who have forgotten or misplaced their Wright1 cards) may use a guest print/copy card.  The card is available at the Circulation Desk on the 1st floor or the Media Desk on the 2nd floor of Dunbar Library.  You must leave something, such as a driver’s license, and in return you get a card with $5 on it.  When you are finished, you return the card to the Circulation Desk and pay for your print jobs and/or copies.

8. Do you have textbooks?
Some professors put some textbooks on reserve—these are at the Circulation Desk on the 1st floor of Dunbar Library. Otherwise, it can be hard to find textbooks in libraries. You may want to check the Ohio Textbook Portal, where many textbooks are offered electronically for half the price of the print version.  The Information Desk (937.775.2925 or from the Ask a Librarian page) can help you determine where your textbook may be available.

9. The library doesn’t have a book that I need. Can I get that from someplace else?
Wright State is a member of OhioLINK, a statewide consortium of 88 Ohio college and university libraries, and the State Library of Ohio.  If you have borrowing privileges, you may search the OhioLINK catalog to see if you can request the book from one of them.  The book will arrive at Wright State in 3-5 business days and you can return the book at Wright State as well.  If you have questions, please contact the Information Desk at 937.775.2925 or one of the ways shown on our Ask a Librarian page.

If no one in OhioLINK has the book you may request it via Interlibrary Loan.

10. Who can I talk to about some fines I owe the library?
