To promote diversity and multicultural events, the Diversity Team has created exhibits on topics related to race, ethnicity, gender, and other issues of multiculturalism and diversity.
In 2009 the Diversity Team collaborated with the Organization for Black Faculty and Staff during National Minority Health Month to feature the book Push and movie Precious. The team displayed an exhibit in the library and helped promote and finance the author’s visit to campus.
Working in conjunction with the Dayton-area Big Read project, in 2011 the University Libraries sponsored a campus book discussion on The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. The event featured a panel of three faculty guest speakers from various disciplines talking about medical and human rights issues, followed by audience questions and discussion. The team also created a display in our library lobby featuring information about the book and the author.
