Books at JSTOR titles now available via GOBI

Just received an email from Valerie Yaw at JSTOR with great news for libraries using GOBI.  You can now purchase JSTOR ebooks through GOBI.  Valerie said that both a single-user model and unlimited-user model (available for 60% of titles) are available through GOBI.  The unlimited-user model offers unlimited simultaneous use, unlimited DRM-free chapter downloads, and unlimited printing and copy/paste.  Libraries will need to sign JSTOR’s participation agreement for Books, available on their website here: http://about.jstor.org/agreements-riders.  They offer tiered savings to libraries, and once they have an agreement on file, the library will see pricing in GOBI that reflects their savings level.

Here is more from the press release:

[New York, NY – May 22, 2014] – Books at JSTOR titles are now available in GOBI3 (Global Online Bibliographic Information), YBP’s acquisition and collection management interface. Libraries can elect to receive new title notifications from GOBI3 or have titles automatically delivered on JSTOR through YBP’s eApproval program. JSTOR’s demand-driven acquisition program will be available through YBP at a later date.
“The Books at JSTOR program aims to offer librarians flexibility in both purchasing options and workflows,” said Frank Smith, Director of Books at JSTOR.  “Now, librarians will also be able to take advantage of YBP’s selection and profiling tools to make ordering from Books at JSTOR even easier.”
“YBP is very excited to offer JSTOR books through GOBI3,” said Mark Kendall, YBP’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Operations. “Our customers have told us that they want us to support their ability to acquire JSTOR titles and as a result of their feedback, we are pleased to offer this option within the context of their existing workflows with YBP. Libraries will now have the option to add JSTOR ebooks to their eApproval plans as well as firm order titles in GOBI3.”
Books at JSTOR features more than 25,000 titles from 57 publishers, including Princeton University Press, The MIT Press, Yale University Press, and many others. The program offers:

  • More than 16,000 books in an unlimited-user, DRM-free access model
  • Savings based on the size of the institution and the number of JSTOR Archive collections licensed
