I took the new Britannica research site for a very quick spin. It’s a clean, colorful interface with intuitive icons, links, and features – very easy to navigate. The landing page features three search boxes, each specialized for a different age group (curious if we can choose one as a default depending on our library level). Content is also divided into three reading levels to correspond. Images, videos, recommended web sites, read-aloud, translation, and citation tools are built in. MCHENRY, Ill., Feb. 13, 2014 –Follett today announced it has launched a collection of nearly 17,000 ebook titles for PreK-12 students from Penguin Group (USA). Penguin is the fifth major book publisher to partner with Follett in the past six months, joining Random House, Hachette, Simon & Schuster and Macmillan.

Libraries have a responsibility to fight for the public and ensure that users have the same open, easy and free access to e-books that they have come to rely on with physical books. They face two major challenges. The first is that, unlike print books, publishers are not required to sell e-books to libraries — and many do not. This is a complex and evolving issue.
