EBSCO ebooks adds arabic titles from the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research

IPSWICH, Mass. — July 15, 2014 —EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) and The Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) have partnered to make ECSSR titles more accessible for academic users as well as public library users looking for Arabic and English publications covering various political, economic, social and informational fields. EBSCO use data for articles and books now included in PlumX impact factor

IPSWICH, Mass. — June 23, 2014 — Metrics from Plum Analytics will now include usage statistics for articles and books that are available from EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) databases and EBSCO Discovery Service. The article-level data from these databases will allow Plum Analytics’ product PlumX to provide usage statistics on articles and books from tens of thousands of providers. This collaboration marks the first time the wealth of information about the actual usage per article such as abstract views, downloads, etc. can be measured across publishers. Continue reading

EBSCO rolls out 28 new ebook subject sets

IPSWICH, Mass. — February 20, 2014 — EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has added 28 new eBook Subject Sets to its extensive collection of eBooks. The Sets provide libraries with convenient ways to begin or expand their eBook collections with current, reputable content from leading publishers.

Key collection areas that were increased with the release of these new Subject Sets include Arts & Humanities, Business, History, Medical and Science & Technology. The Sets allow for quick and easy purchases in particular high-interest subject areas. There is no title overlap across Sets, and no title overlap from year to year. Continue reading

Ingram expands eBook profiling on OASIS platform with EBSCO and ProQuest’s EBL content

Ingram Content Group announced two new partnerships for eBooks on their OASIS platform.  The first is with ProQuests’s EBL.  More than 400,000 EBL eBook titles will be available through Ingram’s OASIS.  The second is with EBSCO.  Print titles have been part of the OASIS platform for EBSCO eBooks but now customers can add eBook content to their orders. EBSCO provides complimentary ERIC A&I data during government shutdown

I don’t know about the rest of my fellow librarians, but we at WSU are extremely frustrated with the lack of government websites right now.  Census data, LC, copyright, USDA, ERIC and many more are either not being updated or not available.  EBSCO is responding to this frustration by offering a complimentary version of ERIC to provide access to the A&I data during the shutdown.  The url for this free version is:  http://www.ebsco.com/freeERIC.  Unfortunately, there is no full text available as that is stored on government servers. IPSWICH, Mass. — October 3, 2013 — EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) is making the government database ERIC available during the government shutdown. ERIC, the Education Resource Information Center, is typically available through the government website (http://eric.ed.gov/) as well as via EBSCO’s EBSCOhost® research platform. Because of the shutdown the government website is unavailable so EBSCO has decided to temporarily open its version of ERIC and make it available at: http://www.ebsco.com/freeERIC . Continue reading

EBSCO launches eBook business collection

EBSCO announced today a new eBook collection (over 9,400 titles) designed specifically for academic and business school libraries.  The full title and/or publisher lists are not on the EBSCO website at this time.  You’ll have to contact your rep for details.
