Scholastic today announced the launch of Storia® School Edition, a subscription-based ebook solution for Pre-K through Grade 6, for group and individual classroom reading, and Core Clicks™, a web-based instructional program for Kindergarten through Grade 5 that supports content area reading in social studies and science. New study shows kids ebook reading has nearly doubled since 2010

Scholastic recently released a new study on kid’s reading in the digital age.  The study found that kids reading of ebooks has nearly doubled since 2010. Full details are on the Scholastic site or you can download the full report with appendices here.

  • The percent of children who have read an ebook has almost doubled since 2010 (25% vs. 46%).
  • Among children who have read an ebook, one in five says he/she is reading more books for fun; boys are more likely to agree than girls (26% vs. 16%). Continue reading

25% of children in study read digital book, 57% want to

According to a study of 2000 children by Scholastic, as reported in the New York Times,  ” About 25 percent of the children surveyed said they had already read a book on a digital device, including computers and e-readers. Fifty-seven percent between ages 9 and 17 said they were interested in doing so.”  The full report is available online.
