First woman inventor of Dayton, Ohio. Hannah D. Conrad was born in Maine. She was the daughter of Jonathan Bartlett. She married Victor L. Conrad in Clark County, Ohio on 18 November 1854. Dr. Victor Conrad was in charge of Cooper Seminary for young ladies while they lived in Dayton, Ohio. In 1862, Victor and Hannah removed to New York City. They lived there until 1867 when Victor was elected professor of Natural Sciences at Pennsylvania College, Gettysburg, PA. In 1870 he resigned his professorship and removed to Philadelphia to become the associate editor of the "Luthern Observer." Source: History of Schuylkill County, PA. W.W.Munsell, 1881.
