What browser and version are you using?
If you are using Netscape (navigator or communicator), Microsoft Internet Explorer, or something else? The version number can be usually found under the Help menu. ["About Internet Explorer" or "About Communicator"]
Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows 5.x - 6.x
Tools menu - select Internet Options...
Select the Connection tab:
Dial-up Modem Users:
- In the Dial-up settings box, find the icon with the name of your dial-up service. Click on the icon once to highlight it.
- Click the Settings... button
- Remove the check from the box next to: "Automatically detect settings"
DSL or Cable Modem Users:
- In the LAN settings box
- Click the LAN settings... button.
- PLEASE NOTE: DSL/LAN/Cable modem users may need to reconfigure the browser for each Web browsing session.
- Uncheck the box next to: "Use automatic configuration script"
- Remove (http://proxy.wright.edu:8080) from the Address field
- In the next section, verify that the 'Use a proxy server' check box is UNCHECKED
- Click on OK to close the Dial-up settings (or LAN Settings) window
- Click on OK to close the Internet Options window
Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows 4.x
- View Menu - select Internet Options
- Select the Connection tab
- For Automatic Proxy Setup:
- Select the "Configure" button under "Automatic Configuration"
- In the area designated, REMOVE the URL for our proxy server. ( http://proxy.wright.edu:8080)
Click OK twice to exit both settings dialogs.
Netscape Communicator 4.x for Windows
- Edit Menu + Preferences
- Open Advanced + Proxies (click 'plus' or double-click 'Advanced' to see 'Proxies')
- For Automatic Proxy Setup:
- In the area designated (Configuration Location), REMOVE the URL for our proxy server, ( http://proxy.wright.edu:8080)
Click Reload and then OK
