What is Encore?

Encore is an alternative way of searching the Wright State Univeristy Libraries catalog. It uses a single search box. Notice the log in link in the upper right corner--logging in allows you to take full advantage of Encore's features. [Try it now!]

How is it different from searching the current catalog?

Encore gives you the capability to narrow your search from your results screen. The red letters are explained below. [Try it now!]

A: If you click the Advanced Search link, it will take you to the Advanced Search in our current catalog.
B: You can refine, or limit/narrow, your search in all the ways listed below. Simply click on the various links! You can easily remove any of the limits you put on your search if you change your mind.
C: Your results will automatically show up sorted in relevance order, but you can change that here.
D: You can re-do your search in the OhioLINK catalog here.
E: These tags are words that show up in the title, table of contents, or detailed description of all the items in your results list. Click on one of them to do a new search on that term.

So why should I log in?

Once you log in, besides doing things like renewing your books online or checking any books you've requested, you can actually add words to the item's description that will then show up in the catalog and be searchable by everyone.

I clicked on the title of one of the books in my results list. Notice how your name will now show up in the upper right corner. I am going to add the words "social justice" to this book's description because I've read it and that is one of the subjects it covers. I simply type in the words and click on the submit button.
