Why should I do background reading?
Background reading is an important first step, especially if you are doing research in an area with which you are unfamiliar.
Background reading will:
- Introduce you to key concepts and jargon in the field
- Help you identify keywords to use in later searches
- Help you determine if your topic is too broad or too narrow
- Give you an idea of the strength of the library's collection in this area.
