| Joshua Martin was born in London County, Virginia on March 23, 1791. He graduated from Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky in 1826 and opened a successful practice in Xenia. The collection consists of two diplomas from Transylvania University, one signed by Daniel Drake. Finding aid available. |

MARTIN, SAMUEL, M.D. (1796-1879).

| Samuel Martin was born in Ireland in 1796. He was educated at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin and the University of Glasgow in Scotland. He came to the United States following the death of his wife, and eventually bought a practice in Xenia. He earned a diploma from the College of Medicine of Ohio in 1837 and became a member of the Ohio State Medical Society in 1853. The collection consists of personal papers, diplomas, student lecture tickets, and a 1865 case report of a ruptured uterus. Finding aid available. |

MCCLELLAN, BENJAMIN, M.D. (1860-1943).

| Benjamin Rush McClellan was born February 20, 1860 in Xenia. He graduated from Wooster College in 1881 and from Miami Medical College in 1884. He established McClellan Hospital in 1898 and was president until 1934 when his son, Schuyler became administrator. He was active in state and county medical societies and served in the Medical Reserve Corps during WWI. The collection consists of personal memorabilia and deeds for Greene County land holdings. | Dr. C. F. Ginn, a homeopathic physician and surgeon, was born in 1849. He graduated from the Cleveland University of Medicine and Surgery in 1884 and established an office in Miamisburg, Ohio. The ledgers are records of his practice from 1885-1890. Finding aid available. |

| Dr. Love was born in Bronson, Kansas and graduated from the University of Kansas Medical School in 1936. He did his internship and residency in dermatology in Cleveland, Ohio from 1935-1938, after which he received a fellowship from the Mayo Clinic. He moved to Dayton and established a dermatology practice. He was a consultant for several Dayton area hospitals and was a clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology for Ohio State University School of Medicine and an Instructor in Dermatology at the Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing. The collection consists of 26 photographs of skin diseases. Finding aid available. |

VISITING NURSES' ASSOCIATION, DAYTON.

| The Visiting Nurses' Association began as the Fruit and Flower Mission in 1898 founded by Emily Stewart. Its original goal was to furnish flowers and fruit to hospital patients and the community's sick. The mission expanded in 1903 to include a visiting nurse. The organization was incorporated in 1907 and changed its name in 1913 to the Visiting Nurses' Association. The collection includes materials from the origins of the association through to its becoming part of the Public Health Nursing Service of Dayton and Montgomery County, Ohio. Materials consist of board minutes, correspondence, pamphlets, newspaper clippings and photographs. Finding aid available. |

| Founded in 1973, the Ohio Association of School Nurses provides a setting where school nurses can share their experiences and work together to achieve common health care goals. One of the association's earliest successes was obtaining the passage of a law requiring the certification of school nurses. Another significant goal that the Ohio Association of School Nurses struggled to achieve for several years was mandatory school health services. The collection consists of minutes, committee records, scrapbooks, and records documenting the organization and its relationship with other associations. Finding aid available. |

| Dr. Martz graduated from the Ohio Medical College in Cincinnati, Ohio in March 1891. He began his medical practice in Palestine, Darke County and eight years moved his practice to Greenville, Ohio.The notebook contains detailed notes from his course work in Medical School. Written in longhand, notes are on a variety of medical ailments and treatments. Included in the back of the notebook is a list of prescriptions for various ailments including their ingredients. Found loose in the back of the notebook was a lengthy note on Typhoid Fever, presumably written by Dr. G. Jamieson Martz of German Township, Darke County, Ohio in May 1897. Finding aid available. |

| Lest We Forget was a film and audio project that captured personal and historical reflections and remembrances of people with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities, their families, their advocates, and their communities during the decades of statewide institutionalization and subsequent deinstitutionalization in Ohio. The goals of the project were to collect oral, video, and written histories of the personal stories of people with mental retardation who lived in a state institution for any period of time. The project also collected the stories of their family members, professionals who worked in the institutions and advocates who worked toward social and legislative change. The papers for the Lest We Forget Collection contain background and research information about the project, correspondence, transcripts, and photographs and videotapes from the documentary project.
