C-97 Crash

This crash occurred on May 22, 1947 and involved a C-97 cargo plane which crashed near Wright Field. Five crew members on board were killed.

    I believe this is the plane that my uncle, William Kinney, was piloting when it crashed. I was told it was due to engine failure but had also heard that the plane was experimental. Would love to know more information about it.

      Thanks for stopping by, Julie! Yes, Lt. Col. W. E. Kinney, along with 4 others, were killed in this crash at Wright Field on May 22, 1947. I’ve emailed you some articles and additional information.
