could you tell me how to find an old dayton newspaper from january 4th 1959 showing article and pictures of the old patterson one room school in osgood ohio. thanks kindly
I do not have ready access to go to the archives personally in Ohio, however, I was wondering if there is someone there who has access to the Dayton Daily News, January 28, 1999. I would greatly appreciate any response at all, even if it is not possible currently to obtain a copy at present; I don’t seem to be finding anything online despite my efforts to search, so this is my last effort of searching online. Any help at all would be so greatly appreciated!
If you know a date for the article you wish to find, the simplest way is to search the Dayton Daily News directly, by date, rather than the DDN Archive (which is organized by subject). Wright State University Libraries has the Dayton Daily News on microfilm, as well as access to articles from 1990-present in an electronic database. If you would like help in finding a specific article, please submit your request through the Archives’ Research Request Form: http://www.libraries.wright.edu/special/research/request/.

The death certificate of Wilbur Wright can be viewed online at : https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/X86Q-2HD (create a free account and login to see the image). This database contains Ohio death records from 1908-1953.
About 10 years ago the Dayton Daily News published a Dayton pictorial history book with a title something like “The Dayton We Love”. Is that still available for purchase from the News? If not, the exact title if you have it, please, so I can try to track down a used copy. Many thanks. — Alan Berg
Hi, Alan, thanks for your comment! I believe you are referring to the book “For the Love of Dayton,” which was published in 1995 and reprinted in 2001 by the Dayton Daily News. It is a chronological picture book published around the city’s bicentennial; each page has pictures and stories from one year in Dayton’s history. I do not believe the book is still available for purchase new, but a quick Internet search shows that there are currently used copies available on Amazon and Ebay. Hope this helps!
The Loews Dayton image is from 1944, not 1955. Shirley Temple was not, among other things, making personal appearances in the mid-50′s. A quick search on IMDB identifies the first-run movie with the correct year.

I am looking for photographs of a man named W.S. McIntosh, who was a civil rights leader from Dayton. Can you assist?
We’ll see what we can find!
