The collection contains items dating from 1917 to 1939. The collection, purchased by the Wright State University Archives in March, 1985 from a dealer in Valley Stream, N.Y., comprises one (half-size) hollinger box. There are no restrictions on the collection. Scope and Content NoteThe collection is comprised of three series containing ten folders. Series I consists of personal and family letters, photographs, cards and newspaper clippings. Included are clippings and photos related to a 20 year award from Goodyear. Mr. Hutchins began his career with Goodyear in 1914 and resigned as their advertising manager in 1935 to join the executive staff of the J. Walter Thompson Company, a national advertising agency in New York City. He was critically injured when hit by a taxi in that city in 1938. Clippings and letters related to his death are included in Series I. (Dates are from 1917 - 1939.) Series II contains clippings and photos related to the Goodyear-Zeppelin christening and general, early aviation. (Dates are from 1929 - 1934.) Series III includes letters, clippings and photos related to celebrities. Of special interest is Folder 8, which contains photos and information about Amelia Earhart's visit to Akron in 1929.
