Scope and Content

Kline was an aeronautical engineer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, with an avid interest in collecting aviation materials. His particular areas of interest were World War I era aviation and military aircraft, although he collected over a wide range of subjects. The major portion of his collection is arranged by type of aircraft and includes journal articles, clippings, photographs, mechanical specifications, illustrations, and miscellaneous information about particular aircraft. Also included are technical manuals, information on insignia and aviators, correspondence with other aviation collectors and dealers, and a small amount of personal and family papers. The bulk of materials range in date from 1917 to 1986.
