Sheila Shellabarger Named University Librarian

Shelia Shellabarger, LIBRARY ADMINISTRATION, Interim University Librarian, 6-15-16Sheila Shellabarger, M.Ed., M.L.S., has been named Wright State University’s University Librarian. Shellabarger has served 23 years in Wright State’s library system, ranging from Department Head of Reference & Instruction for the prior Fordham Health Sciences Library to her new position as University Librarian. She has served as interim University Librarian since 2013.

The University Librarian serves as chief administrative officer and is responsible for providing leadership in strategic planning, for developing and promoting library services and resources, and for initiating and implementing new technologies.

Duties also include budget and personnel management, fundraising, and collaborating with campus and community partners.

Shellabarger’s goals are to strengthen community connections and collaboration with other campus units, create efficiencies in library staffing and work processes, and improve the condition of Dunbar Library. She also plans to explore and create new initiatives to support student success.

Shellabarger obtained her bachelor’s degree in English from Miami University, her master’s of education from Wright State and her master’s of library science from Kent State.

Prior to coming to Wright State, Shellabarger was library director and associate professor at the Kettering College of Medical Arts, Learning Resources.

Provost, Dr. Thomas Sudkamp announced Shellabarger’s appointment in an email to Wright State University faculty, staff and students on June 27th. Shellabarger’s appointment will be effective July 1, 2016.
