Unwin(e)d Book Club 2016-2017

The Friends of the Wright State University Libraries are proud to announce the 2016-17 Unwin(e)d Book Club titles and dates!

Join us at Winans in Beavercreek at 5:30 p.m. on the following Thursdays for this lively book discussion group. Unwin(e)d is not your mother’s book club. No topic is off-limits. Grab a glass of wine and some chocolate and we’ll bring the cheese and crackers!

September 8, 2016 – Weathering by Lucy Wood

November 10, 2016 – Girl Waits with Gun by Amy Stewart

January 19, 2017 – Blackass by Igoni Barrett

March 9, 2017 – The Nest by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney

This year’s diverse group of mostly-debut authors hail from the U.S., U.K., and Nigeria, and tackle a range of issues: family, race, violence, mystery, opportunity, greed, ghosts. Titles were selected based on their ability to challenge readers and drive discussion. If there is a theme that ties these novels together, it’s change – waiting for it, fighting against it, or making it happen (by force if necessary). Can we ever really change? You be the judge.

Subscribe to this blog for updates on Unwin(e)d and other University Libraries news.

A limited number of print copies will be on reserve soon at Dunbar Library, or for purchase at the Barnes & Noble University Bookstore (Wright1 card and Friends of the Libraries enjoy 20% discount!). Some titles may be available through SearchOhio. Door prizes were donated by Barnes & Noble and the Friends of the Libraries. Book club is free and open to the public. No registration required.
