University Libraries’ Staff Honored at Annual Awards Ceremony

The University Libraries’ annual Staff Achievement and Recognition Ceremony was held on May 9th. At this ceremony, library staff were honored for years of service and two were selected for the libraries’ annual STAR Award.

Chris Duffy, Library Operations Specialist 2, received a STAR Award for her dependability, loyalty and commitment to customer service. If you have visited the library, then you know Chris as she is one of the first people you will see when entering the building. Chris is responsible for opening the library every morning. She arrives at 7 a.m. to complete her routine building checks and opening procedures. The rest of her day is spent at the circulation desk, assisting our patrons with Course Reserves or OhioLINK pick-ups, checking out and returning items, and helping our patrons get connected with the resources they need, on and off-campus.

Ximena Chrisagis, Nursing and Chemistry Librarian, also received a STAR Award.  Ximena provides proficient and thorough research instruction for the Nursing and Chemistry students and faculty.  A lot of her research and instruction is delivered remotely, either by participating in the libraries’ popular Ask A Librarian chat service, or using Skype or other screen sharing services to reach nursing students enrolled in online classes or at the Lake Campus. Ximena is committed to the accessibility of library resources and works to keep our online research guides and public areas ADA compliant.
