Parks, Fairs and Festivals

Summer is the time for outdoor activities. Dayton and its metropolitan area boast an impressive array of parks, gardens and reserves for public enjoyment in warm weather. Dayton’s parks have provided much-appreciated sites for recreation and relaxation for over a century. They are managed by a diverse array of organizations – Five Rivers MetroParks, the Miami Conservancy District, etc.

Summer has long been the season for county fairs and local festivals. Both types of events offer venues for fun and competition for visitors of all ages. The photographers of the Dayton Daily News primarily covered the many fairs and festivals in Montgomery, Greene, Miami and Warren counties.

This gallery features many photos of parks, fairs and festivals – enjoy looking at these images and reliving your memories of summertimes past!
