Camp Fever and Mud

On January 30, 1862, William wrote his mother from Camp Wood, Kentucky.  In the letter he tells his mother that he had not written for awhile because he had been “takin down with Camp Feaver, “(typhoid) as did many others in the regiment.  He was confined to his bed for 10 days and he thought he was going to die but was now on the mend.  He also reports that he can hardly step outside his tent without stepping into mud up to the tops of his boots.
