Victory over Japan (V-J) Day in Dayton

Victory over Japan Day (V-J Day) is the name chosen for the anniversary of the Allied victory of the Empire of Japan during WWII. The Japanese agreed to surrender in August of 1945 and the official documents were signed the first week of September. One of the most famous pictures of WWII, the sailor kissing the nurse in Times Square, was taken on V-J Day. Like NYC, there were celebrations throughout the country, including right here in the Miami Valley.  Below is a selection of pictures taken during the V-J Day celebration taken in Dayton-area during August and September of 1945.
