According to the original caption with this image, this picture was taken on October 9th, 1943, when B-17s from the 8th Air Force flying from England bombed the Focke-Wulf aircraft factory at Marienburg, Germany. Visible in this picture is the airstrip which fresh fighters were flown from. Bombers would return to attack this target in 1944 as well.
