Flat Stanley visits Archives!

Flat Stanley from Plainfield Elementary School in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, visited Special Collections and Archives on Wednesday evening, February 21. He got to see the Wright Brothers’ report cards, use a stereopticon viewer to see a photo of the Wright School of Aviation from 1911, look at the Michelin Trophy, and view a first flight photo that went up on the space shuttle.  In the reading room, he met with poet and novelist Paul Laurence Dunbar, posed with Wilbur and Orville, checked out the medals the Wrights were awarded for their aviation accomplishments, examined a model of the SR-71 Blackbird, and viewed some really old books. We are so glad he decided to stop in and see us and hope he comes back again! Be sure to check out the gallery below to see Flat Stanley’s adventures in the Archives.
