Celebrating African-Americans Who Helped Shape WSU

In 1991, Alyce Earl Jenkins of the College of Education produced an interview series regarding the African-American experience at WSU, titled Profiles of African-Americans: Their Role in Shaping Wright State University. At Special Collections & Archives we have the original recordings from these interviews, which we’ve digitized and made available on Core Scholar. In celebration of African-American History Month, we thought we would post excerpts from a few of these interviews. In the first installment, Carolyn Wright, former Director of the Bolinga Center, discusses what the experience was like being an African-American student at WSU in 1969, and initial planning for the Black Cultural Resources Center, later re-named the Bolinga Center.
