Interested in some history of the early rock scene in Dayton? Special Collections & Archives has been interviewing a group of local musicians for our Dayton Music History Project as we begin to investigate the many layers of popular music history in the city of Dayton. The goal of the project is to document and preserve Dayton’s rich music history through the stories and memorabilia of musicians, producers, and others involved in the local music scene.
We are beginning with the early rock genre and now have our first 8 interviews as well as a “story circle” with our original group of project participants, available through Wright State Libraries’ CORE Scholar.
We would like to branch into all genres of music and are actively looking for individuals interested in participating in the project. Whether it’s rock, R&B, funk, jazz, bluegrass, punk, folk, or any other flavor, interested participants are encouraged to contact us as we continue to build our archive of Dayton music history. Please help spread the word!
